About Me:
I am studying Art and Design, Technology and Design and Applied Business at A-Level. I chose to study Art and Design because I believe that I have natural talent, but most of all I enjoy the subject. Technology and Design is a subject which links naturally with art. I chose business studies to combine my first two subjects into a business in the future. Whilst studying my A-Levels, I also help out on the family farm, where I take responsibility to rear young calves.
At school, I have gained a number of awards and recognition for my art. These include, an A grade at AS Level and an A* grade at GCSE, and I also won the school’s cup for top GCSE student in Art and Design, as well as the shield for top student at Key Stage 3. I won the Police Service Northern Ireland anti-racism competition when my painting was selected for their marketing campaign throughout our county in 2009.
My aspiration is to become a fine art teacher/lecturer and possibly combining this work with my hobby of selling commissions. I particularly enjoy the aspect of idea development, and tend to focus my ideas around large scale portraits.
I am looking for a fine arts degree that combines painting, sculpture and print making around which I could further develop my skills. The course at MMU provides this, and will allow me to continue taking this forward to a teaching career.
I believe I can contribute significantly to life at MMU. I am a keen sports player, playing hockey, rugby and rowing. Furthermore, I was chosen to mentor younger students which involved a commitment to a training course resulting in a mentoring certificate and I would like to continue to develop this skill whilst at University. Finally I am an active member of the local Parish preparing and attending the local church each week and attending the teenage church group.
